Dear brothers and sisters,

Pastor Chianhong and family are back, from the hot Malaysia to Cardiff in the late fall fallen leaves everywhere. Let us remember the whole family in prayers, pray that they’ll settle smoothly physically, emotionally and spiritually.

It’s Joint Service for the 3 language groups last Sunday. Pastor Chianhong preached on the Word of God, urging us to pursue holiness. Who among us can boast to be holy? God loves us and commands us to live a holy life. He set the Ten Commandments in the Old Testament to help His people flee from sins. In the New Testament, the Word became flesh and died on the cross to cleanse our sins, and He urged us to flee from sins and conquer sins. On that day, when we finish our path on earth, we come to the Lord not with our reputation or success or career or achievement, but ‘Make every effort to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.’ (Heb 12:14)

16 brothers and sisters attended the 20th Thanksgiving of the Christian Centre for Gambling Rehabilitation (CCGR). Standing on the stage, the faces of the founders came to my mind one by one: Uncle Mak, Rev David Cheung, Rev Frank Cheung and Brother Siu-wah. They had finished their race and are now with the Lord.

The CCGR has yielded many fruit over the 20 years. They have helped many Chinese gamblers to lead a new life through faith in the Lord and restored many families. We truly believe that ‘the gospel is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.’ (Rom 1:16) We offer thanks and praises to the Lord. We need to press on because there are still so many lost people drowning in sins, bound by the power of Satan.

‘What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!’ (Rom 7:24-25)

In Him,
Sam Wong
