7th November 2014
Dear brothers and sisters,
I went to Shanghai for an ex-CCCC Reunion with Cherry last weekend and spoke in a church in their Couples Meeting, Singles Meeting and Sunday Service. The three days were full of the Lord’s blessings.
When the earthquake that killed thousands on 12th May 2008, I was in Shanghai, it still strikes me hard today.
6 years went by, the fellowship had become a church, moving from a family sitting room to a conference room in a hotel, serving and caring for people of all ages.
The ex-CCCCers are now attending different churches all over Shanghai. We counted the Lord’s blessings one by one over the 28-seater table and gave all glories to the Lord. We also shared our needs as we need prayer partners on our path of faith. ‘ Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.’ (2 Tim 2:22) We then split into small groups to pray and it’s the most wonderful time, coming together to God’s throne of grace, receiving mercy and finding grace to help us in our time of need.
When we took a walk in a nearby park that morning, we met the Yellow Duck! It has travelled around the world and watched people with its discerning eyes, calling men to turn and become as little children.
We visited a historic town surprisingly and all of us were travelling back to 300 years ago surrounded by small bridges over flowing streams!
Goodbye Shanghai, looking forward to meeting you again!
In Christ,
Sam Wong
