Dear brothers and sisters,

Addiction3Our family is most excited to see Carys standing up and taking a few steps wriggly with both arms stretching out to balance herself, laughing happily.

Last Saturday (29/8) a group of six of us went to a gospel rehabilitation centre for drug addicts in Dongguan. It’s built in a remote area, with dormitories, a canteen, classrooms, a hall, a basketball court and a field. It’s been run for over 10 years, helping people to rid of their addiction by the power of Jesus. The addicts come here voluntarily for an 18-month course for free.

Addiction1Some men are going through the process here. They tried all kinds of methods before. The most difficult part of addiction is the mind, not the body. Rehabilitation by the gospel is to receive Jesus and let Him conquer the addiction of the heart. ‘The gospel is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.’ To believe in Jesus is follow Him every day in the whole life!

We visited a ‘halfway house’ downtown in the afternoon. It’s a place to help those who finish the 18-month course to get back to the society. We worshipped the Lord together with songs, prayers and God’s Word.Addiction2

We met up briefly with some ex-CCCCers in Dongguan. Though we haven’t got much time to share, it’s the Lord’s grace to greet each other in the Lord Jesus Christ.

I remember every student who goes back to China, ‘May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all!’

In Him,
Sam Wong
