Dear brothers and sisters,

The 9th Chinese Congress on World Evangelization was held in Taiwan on 22-26 August. The end of this meeting is the beginning of the ministry planning for the next five years.

The first CCCOWE was held in Hong Kong in 1976, the theme was ‘Vision and Mission’. While the leaders of my church were excited about the big event, we the youngsters were arguing on the theme of the Summer Retreat, ‘Challenges of this generation’ or ‘challenges of the modern man’. It’s just like yesterday.

The theme of the 9th CCCOWE is ‘The Glory and Mission of God: Becoming Radical Disciples of Christ.’ Being radical, the whole conference was mainly conducted through small group forum. Each group was consisted of 8 representatives from different districts, meeting from 9am to 9pm, focusing on the messages and case sharing, exploring practical strategies of individual church and organization through discussion and prayers.

The speaker of the Conference was Rev Edmund Chan. He started a church of 17 people in Singapore, and it’s congregation has now got 5000 people through discipleship training. The venue of the Conference is the 4000 people hall of Torch Covenant Church; this church started with 10 people, after 40 years, they have now got over 50 sub-churches in Taiwan. The 9th CCCOWE linked up discipleship training with ministries in different areas: Youth, Family, Work, Media, Church, Community, Mission. Each small group planned the future ministries with a new set of mind through exploration of different cases in these 7 areas. One Malaysian representative in my group proudly said, ‘I’m a product of discipleship training of my church, the Lord has called me to be His servant.’

If God wants to take our colt, are we willing to sacrifice it? If God wants us to go find the colt for His use, are we brave enough to untie and lead it to Him?
‘The Lord needs it.’ Build an Intentional Disciple-Making Church!

In Him
