17th March, 2016
Dear brothers and sisters,
Cardiff is warm yet cool in March. The windy and rainy days are getting past and the sun has finally come out. It is so much fun cycling to church through the Bute Park!
Brother Nianxue talked on “Treasure the Time with Your Children” in the Saturday Fellowship on 12th March, encouraging the Chinese School parents to spend more time with their children. The Word of God is the most precious gift for our children. “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” (Proverbs 22:6) The best way to train our children is to show them the way, to pray, sing and read the Bible with them at home and to go to church together as a family, walking alongside with them all the way. Starting April, there will be group discussion afterwards to talk over different scenarios in real life.
Brother Fooleong is still weak and needs more rest at home. He is visiting the hospital three times a week. Please pray for his health, and do pray for Janet and their children. This is indeed a spiritual war for the whole church, “If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” (1 Corinthians 2:26-27)
In the Sunday Service on 13th March, I mentioned the Chinese proverb “a minor illness brings out blessings”, but what if one gets a severe one? How could we, being Christians, prepare for this spiritual lesson? We’ll definitely fail with our own strength, but we can find comfort and strength from God’s Word, “Because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. Therefore He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them.” (Hebrews 7:24-25)
We might have to face trials alone sometimes, but we are never lonely!
In Him,
Sam Wong
