4th August 2016
Dear brothers and sisters,
Thank you for your prayers and greetings, I’ve retreated to the hills for nearly 2 months. The Lord has led me here to know Him more. I used to read the Bible mostly for others, now I spend more time waiting upon the Lord to speak to me. I used to pray for different ministries a lot, now I pray more for people. I experience the Lord’s presence every morning and evening on the hills with messages and melody from the hymns.
Within these short 8 weeks, I have loved Malvern, a lovely place with hills and waters. Different paths lead to the beacon of Malvern hills, whether sunny or rainy, cold or hot, though the hills are not high, I feel refreshed looking around from the hilltop, especially the ever-changing sunset clouds.
There are no rivers in Malvern, but there is never stopping water from the underground springs. Malvern became a popular spa treatment centre in the 19th Century because of these springs.
Though alone, God has provided me fellowship with new friends from the seminary and church. We are of different colours from different parts of the world with different experiences, but we have in-depth sharing despite the fact that we don’t know each other well. We gain knowledge from reading books, but wisdom from interaction with people. Two months has gone so fast.
Thank you for your prayers, special thanks to the Micah Bible Study group who took the long journey to visit me, with your food, fruits and vegetables.
‘For the Lamb at the centre of the throne will be their shepherd; He will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe way every tear from their eyes.’ (Rev 7:17)
In Him,
Sam Wong
