Dear brothers and sisters,

reunion1It’s good to be with family and friends, with endless conversations.

The ex-CCCCers met on 22/8 Saturday. Chris and Zarrina were visiting Hong Kong, and Zenda just finished his 23-month round the world cycling trip. We’re all interested in their stories and future plans. We blessed and prayed for each other in small groups.

We attended the Sunday Service in a Putonghua church. They have been meeting for 20 years and the theme of their 20th Anniversary is ‘Use me 20 years’, encouraging the congregation to walk with the Lord for another 20 years. I felt very warm singing the praises and listening to their accent, as if I was worshipping in the Cardiff Putonghua Service in Hong Kong.

reunion2I passed by the Victoria Park and saw groups of Indonesian domestic workers celebrating their National Day. Most of them were wearing their traditional costumes. They chatted excitedly and happily in their native dialect, relaxing after a week’s hard work.

I always meet two large groups of minority groups, the Indonesian domestic workers and the Putonghua visitors on the train. A foreigner can understand foreigners’ lonely feelings.

It’s good to be with family, even a simple lunch is a blessing. Seeing Carys’ funny eating face is a joy. When I was eating the vegetables from the salad bar, I thought of the teaching in Proverbs, ‘Better a small serving of vegetables with love than a fattened calf with hatred.’ (Prov 15:17)

In Him,
Sam Wong
