Dear brothers and sisters,
100 thousand Welsh people had come to the Lord in the 1904-05 Revival. The Revival fire spread to England and Scotland, and it’s estimated that 1 million people had received the Lord Jesus. George Jeffreys was 15 then, he was born again in this revival, and zealously preached the gospel everywhere. He identified Jesus as Saviour, Healer, Baptizer and the Coming King. He formed the Elim Evangelistic Band with a small group of followers and started the first church, the Elim Foursquare Gospel Alliance, in 1915.
The Elim Church celebrated their Centenary in 2015. They have established over 550 churches in the UK, and over 9000 meeting points in over 50 countries.
Before his death in 1962, George Jeffreys prayed for a young man, a fresh graduate from the Bible College, who was called to preach the gospel in Africa. This man was like Elisha who took Elijah’s mantle and later went to Africa. He started a meeting of 100 people in a Stadium. The congregation grew gradually, in order to cater for more people, he made a tent that could hold 34000 people. But the tent was destroyed in a storm before a meeting, so they had to meet in the open air. 100 thousand people attended that meeting. The tent was destroyed so that more people can hear the gospel. 75 million decisions were registered for Christ in his over 40 years of ministry! He is Reinhard Bonnke, he not only wants to evangelize Africa, his Christ for All Nations aim at bringing all nations to Christ.
I’ve learnt some Wales history on Malvern Hills. George Jeffreys was a Welsh, born in Maesteg, a small town 20 miles from Cardiff. Reinhard Bonnke is a German, but he received his theological training in a Bible College in Swansea.
‘But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.’ (Acts 1:8)
In Him,
